“I re-fractured my clavicle a few months after surgery for a different fracture to the same bone. Having already had 2 operations at that site, the consultant suggested we manage it conservatively, but that Exogen might help avoid a non-union in a bone at risk given the repeated trauma. I found the bone a little sensitive to treatment in the first week or 2 after the fracture, but felt nothing after that. ”EXOGEN RENTAL was recommended to me by a colleague after I reported delays in my fracture healing with her.  I had sustained a badly comminuted fracture of my right clavicle some months ago and was in quite a lot of pain. I was supplied with an EXOGEN 4000+ unit that I used for 4 months in total, up to the point where bone healing was confirmed on x-ray. The machine is very easy to use and comes with a strap for fixing the ultrasound head in place (clavicle repairs require another type of strap which is supplied separately). ”I suffered a very serious four part proximal humerus fracture and had a 3 hour operation to pin it back together. It did not heal well (a non-union fracture is not uncommon with very severe breaks). My surgeon recommended the Exogen® Bone Healing Stimulator after 3 months – this treatment is approved under NICE guidelines but only after one year of non-union. I ignored this and instead took the advice of my surgeon (a professor and known expert in shoulder surgery). The cost of purchasing a machine was in excess of £3,000 so an internet search brought up UltrasoundBoneHealing for rental. In the end I had to use the stimulator for 9 months but it still cost far less than an outright purchase and my bones healed sufficiently for more surgery to take place to remove the metalwork and at last I’m pretty much back to normal.
